aIDa for MODO
Yum Yum!
Meet aIDa - Harry, Selma and Patty's estranged second-cousin-in-law.
aIDa is a channel modifier alias that takes the item name of a given modo object and returns a number. 'Why is this useful?' I hear you ask. Well. Suppose you have some procedurally modelled geometry that has an element of randomness involved. You might want to use a different seed value for each object, for example. aIDa takes the input mesh name and returns a value. Give it a different name and get a different number. That much is simple.
Now here's the fun bit. You want lots of slightly different objects. All you have to do is duplicate your object, modo increments the number in the item name, and hey Presto!
Except it would do if it worked. But since this was created by James rather than Steve Hill (3D) you end up with a tangled mess of spaghetti!
Oh look at the time...
A modo scene (.lxo) to pick aaprt and set if anything is useful
